Rope work is a regular feature of working in the built environment in areas where the use of scaffolding or access equipment may not be practicable, with applications across building construction and maintenance. It refers to the use of rope systems to create reliable and safe access to heightened industrial areas in total or partial suspension above the ground. Rope access is regularly used when working at heights and most training is delivered by private providers. The Construction IRC has instructed Artibus Innovation to assess its viability for inclusion within nationally endorsed training.
